Running a course

Strict mode and watch credit

Choose whether watching must be in order, and read counted time against watched time.

Before you start

Open the course. Watch rules sit with the video settings, and they are saved with Confirm settings the first time and Save settings after that. They are not applied by moving the slider alone.

Steps

  1. Find Watch in order. On, the video must be watched front to back the first time: a trainee can only seek back through what they have already watched. Off, they can jump anywhere.
  2. Set Required watch coverage. That is how much of a lecture must be watched before it counts as complete. It is separate from the assessment pass mark. Below 100% leaves room for a few dropped seconds at the end. It does not weaken watch-in-order: watched time still has to elapse in real time.
  3. Choose Confirm settings or Save settings.

What happens next

On the player, Counted is time that has been credited. Not yet watched — locked is still ahead of them when watch-in-order is on. Dragging into that stretch does not complete the lecture. Completion still needs the coverage you set and the same real time on the clock. Turning watch-in-order off changes the order, not the amount.

Common problems

  • A trainee who dragged ahead and saw no progress was stopped by Watch in order. Counted time is what the server recorded. Time spent sitting on a later frame is not a substitute.
  • Unsaved changes are discarded if you leave. The page says so beside the button.
